About the BugfarmTM game

Developed by scientists and educators, BugfarmTM is an interactive DVD-ROM game designed to be a true-to-life simulation of both real gardening and raising beneficial insects.

Many children (and adults too!) think of insects as "scary" or "icky". But with a little knowledge and some familiarity, we can learn to respect insects. A few may even become our allies!

As a unique, non-threatening beneficial insect, the Spined Soldier Bug serves as an ideal introduction to entomology, or the study of insects. Because it only eats insects that eat our food and destroy our crops -- and has no ability to harm people -- it could also spark an interest in healthy gardening and environmentally-safe pest control.

The Spined Soldier Bug may be rare in the gardens of your hometown, but there are plenty in this game to raise and learn from. As you play, all insects will become less "icky" and some will even become your friends.

So jump in and have fun. We hope you'll learn something valuable that will put a smile on your face... and possibly even food on your table!
